Hello everyone, I’m Ghita from Morocco. I’m
23 years old, currently serving as a long-
term volunteer at the OpenSpace
Foundation while pursuing my PhD in
Corporate Social Responsibility. My
passion for environmental issues and my
desire to make a positive impact on society
and the environment have been
longstanding. However, this interest
deepened significantly during my first year
of undergraduate studies when I took the
initiative to delve into Sustainable
Development. This sparked a journey of
exploration, leading me to investigate how
our actions can either positively or
negatively impact our environment.
In my academic journey, I’ve actively
shared my insights on sustainability.
During my master’s thesis, I delved into
the realm of sustainable marketing, and
now, in my doctoral research, I’m
focusing on Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) activities and how
companies can become more
accountable towards society and the
environment.
Through this article, let’s embark on a
journey to discover how we can become
proactive consumers, taking meaningful
actions rather than being passive
observers.
Sustainable consumption is a consumption pattern that takes into
account the criteria of sustainable development, meaning
consumption that is both environmentally friendly, beneficial to
the economy (especially locally), good for health, and also positive
for society. It is a concept aimed at promoting consumption
patterns that are environmentally friendly, socially equitable, and
economically viable. It is a strategy that acknowledges the negative
impacts of purchasing decisions on the environment, society, and
the economy, while encouraging sustainable alternatives.
In today’s world, consumers have a powerful role to play in shaping
a sustainable future. From the products we buy to the way we use
resources, every decision we make as consumers has an impact on
the environment, society, and economy. With growing awareness
of environmental and social issues, many people are seeking ways
to become more responsible consumers. Here’s a guide to help you
make sustainable choices in your everyday life.
